KARMA TASHI JUNGÉ
At Karma Tashi Jungé, our sangha ( community ) offers access to traditional meditation practices rooted in the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. These methods are grounded in an unbroken lineage of transmission and are presented in a way that remains faithful to their original context while being accessible to contemporary Western practitioners.
Our meditation sessions include both sung (chant-based) and silent forms of practice. Sung practices involve the recitation of liturgical texts, mantras, and prayers, preserving the rhythmic and sonic dimensions that are central to Vajrayana ritual and contemplative training. These practices support concentration, embodiment, and a deeper connection to the symbolic language of the tradition.
In parallel, we offer silent meditation sessions, which emphasize direct experiential engagement with the mind. Drawing on core Karma Kagyu approaches—such as calm-abiding (śamatha) and insight (vipaśyanā), as well as introductory forms of Mahāmudrā—these practices cultivate clarity, stability, and awareness without reliance on elaborate ritual structure.
Together, these complementary forms of meditation reflect the balance of method and insight characteristic of the Karma Kagyu school. Practitioners are invited to engage at their own pace, whether through structured liturgical practice or quiet contemplative observation, within a supportive and authentic sangha environment.
